Peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27

What is peace? I think it starts with a quiet mind and a quiet soul that trusts God has everything under control. We can obsess over things we can't control but it won't change anything.

Sometimes though, we have legitimate things to worry about. For examples If you've broken the law there can be very real consequences looming overhead. If we've hurt someone large or small we have the worry of how or if to repair that relationship.

If something is causing us to not have peace in our hearts perhaps there is some things that needs to be wrestled with. Is there legal action that needs to take place or maybe just a simple conversation will do. No matter the gravity or weight of a circumstance God sees it all.

Is there something in your home life that just doesn't let you have peace? A nagging concern that maybe the person you're living with is hiding something? To have peace doesn't mean we just ignore true red flags or warning signs even if they are just a "gut feeling".

Peace is not burying your head in the sand and saying, "God's got this" as a way out of any personal responsibility. Sometimes, to have peace we have to fight the evil and the injustice of the world. Sometimes, to have peace we have to own up to our own mistakes. Sometimes we have to break relationships with people including divorce.Sometimes, we may even have to turn in ourselves in or someone we care about in to law enforcement. Sometimes putting the weak and vulnerable person's needs ahead of our own is the only way to real peace.

Christ put himself on the cross and died so we can have peace. Peace doesn't mean comfort.

Just some rambling thoughts on my verse of the week. 🕊️🙏
